Sports Relief Article Update
On the 21st March 2014 Kearsley Academy took part in a mile challenge run to raise money for charity. As an Academy our Sports Relief challenge was to travel from John ‘O’Groats to Lands’ End (equivalent of 603 miles as the crow flies), with many students travelling as many miles as they could during their PE lesson.
After they did their mile walk (they could do as many miles as they wanted). To add, competitive students were earning house points for their form and attendance! Year 7 has completed over 130 miles in just 1 session of 30 minutes time. Excellent participation and determination was shown throughout the challenge with a huge amount of spare time. After this event Kearsley Academy raised £240 towards Sports Relief!
We had an Interview with Mr Baxter, our sports teacher who answered a few questions….
How many miles were ran during this event?
In an educational point of view, how much effort did the students and staff put into it?
‘’On a scale of 1-10, Making 1 no effort at all and 10 putting in all the effort they had. So I would say definitely 10.’’
…the rest of the interview will form part of our final BBC School Report.
